About
This doctoral school will explore current and emerging topics in quantum optics, ultra-cold atoms & molecules, quantum simulation, and photonics, offering a program of lectures, seminars, hands-on sessions, poster sessions, and societal evening discussions. The program will promote interdisciplinary exchange, with contributions from experts across theory and experiment and special care will be taken to include several lectures from a young generation alongside more senior and established scientists.

Premises
The school offers a library with the main scientific journals (paper and online) and reference books, an open space with many blackboards, and the Yves Rocard lecture hall (video projector + automated video capture). Wifi and network hubs, desktop computers, a photocopier, and 3 washing machines and 3 dryers are available. Set in the French Alps amid chalets and mountains.
Lodging
Participants are housed in single rooms with their own bathroom/toilets, in chalets dispersed on the mountainside (electricity: AC, 50 Hz, 220 V). Towels, shampoo, soap, shower gel and a hair-dryer are provided. A flashlight is recommended for moving between chalets at night.
Meals
Three meals a day are served in the school dining room (drinks not included). Breakfast 7:45–8:45, lunch 12:30, dinner 19:30. Free coffee & tea in the bar and the main building.

Access
Vehicle parking is available at the school; registration at reception is required. From Les Houches train station the school is 5 km uphill (taxi recommended).

By plane: Geneva Airport is the nearest airport (about 1 hour drive, no traffic). Shuttle service (Mountain Drop-Offs, ~40 € to the school, book at least 3 days in advance, promo code EDP2014). A regular bus between Geneva and Les Houches runs once or twice a day.
By train: via Saint-Gervais-les-Bains-Le Fayet and Les Houches (about 10 trains per day, 20 min trip). From Les Houches station, take a taxi for the remaining 5 km uphill — Alpes Transport (+33 6 73 54 98 05), Cham Taxi (+33 6 07 26 36 62).
By road: easily accessible from France (A41 highway), Switzerland (Martigny and Col des Montets) and Italy (Mont Blanc Tunnel). Parking available at the school (register at reception). EV charging in Les Houches village (Parking du Freney, 31 Clos des Lilas).
